The Goose is OutPublication and audio for ‘Designer as Revolutionary’
As an element of ‘Designer as Revolutionary’, my second prototype explored my Grandmother’s personal revolution of joining the Rajneesh movement in the 1980s. A key story of the movement is ‘The Goose is Out’, an Osho proverb that depicts the impossible problem of a goose stuck in a bottle. I tell the proverb on every page, with visual narration in the form of imagery showing the similarities between me and my Gran’s choices.

In the open studio, there was a complementary audio piece of my Gran telling the proverb herself, along with headphones to listen. This was intended to welcome the reader into the feeling of spiritually, enhancing the experience of a personal interaction with the work.

Listen to my Gran telling the proverb below, and see extracts of the publication (28 pages in full).
