Subject: PEN FRIENDProject at Central Saint Martins
‘Subject: PEN FRIEND’ is a publishing project investigating childhood documentation.

I was interested in pairing two attitudes - this more sterile capturing of time, and the happier core of the memories themselves. The result was several publications highlighting the magic of found type, often juxtaposed with more tender image. From my childhood letters and documents I created a typeface, each letterform with a detailed source as to where it was collected. This was housed in a box filled with cards, also with a visual memory puzzle for the viewer to complete.
